In the presentation, the role of a star tracker in the attitude determination and control subsystem of a spacecraft is discussed. The basic principles of a star tracker are explained. The phase of feature extraction that is exploited in advance of star identification is investigated in detail. A simulator designed for extracting features is introduced. Two image samples are used to illustrate and discuss the results. The derived feature vectors are submitted.
